RMCP's team of mental health professionals will assess the individual, stabilize them, and then connect them with appropriate follow-up care and services.

Jefferson Center is a nonprofit organization that provides mental health and substance use services for individuals and families in Jefferson, Clear Creek, and Gilpin Counties. They have been serving the community for over 60 years and offers services and programs to support people of all ages facing mental health and substance use disorders. They also have a program called Senior Reach, which focuses on supporting the well-being, independence and dignity of older adults by providing education, care management, mental health services and connecting them to community resources

Senior Reach (Jefferson Center)

Senior Reach is a program that helps older adults in the community who may be in need of emotional or physical support and/or connection to community services. The program is run by two organizations, Jefferson Center for Mental Health and Mental Health Partners, and is designed to help older adults get assistance before a serious crisis develops. The program works by having trained volunteers, called Community Partners, observe older adults in the community and report any concerns to the Senior Reach Call Center. If the older adult agrees, a member of the Senior Reach Team will visit them at home to see what kind of support they need. This may include short-term counseling if necessary. The goal of the program is to help older adults maintain their well-being, independence, and dignity as they age.

SCL West Pines: Behavioral Health Care for Seniors

Senior Behavioral Health is a program that helps older adults who are experiencing complex mental health issues. The program is located in the Lutheran Medical Center and is designed for people who are 65 years and older. If you or a loved one is experiencing symptoms such as feeling sad, not enjoying activities, trouble sleeping, having thoughts of hurting oneself or others, unusual behavior, confusion, memory problems, or emotional difficulties, the program may be able to help.

The program includes a thorough examination by a doctor to understand the problem and develop a treatment plan. The patient will have a team of healthcare professionals, led by a psychiatrist, who will provide compassionate care and support during the treatment and help plan for life after leaving the program. The typical stay is 12-14 days. The program accepts patients directly from the hospital emergency department, and also from private doctors, nursing homes, law enforcement professionals and community healthcare providers.

Heartland Mental Health: Peer Support Community

Heartland Mental Health is a community-based organization that supports people with mental health conditions in Denver, Colorado. They have a center called the Drop-In Center, located in the Capitol Hill area of Denver, where people can visit and connect with others who are going through similar experiences in a safe and welcoming environment. The center is open six days a week and is open to everyone regardless of where they receive their mental health services. At the center, you can find resources such as a small food bank and clothing bank, computers with free internet access, groups, classes, and activities, and lunch is also available for $1.50 on Tuesdays.

Additionally, the organization has a clinic called Heartland Clinic, where they provide psychiatric services to adults with serious mental health conditions. The services include counseling, medication management, case management, and group activities, to help individuals improve their mental health and wellbeing.

Institute on Aging’s 24-hour toll-free Friendship Line

The Institute on Aging offers a special helpline called the Friendship Line that is specifically for people who are 60 years and older and for adults living with disabilities. This helpline is available 24 hours a day and can be reached by calling a toll-free number 800.971.0016.

The Friendship Line is the only helpline of its kind in the country that is accredited. The organization also makes follow-up calls to older adults who may be feeling lonely. The Friendship Line is designed to help older adults who may be feeling suicidal or depressed, as they may not reach out to traditional suicide prevention centers.

The volunteers on the line are trained to provide a listening ear and have a friendly conversation with older adults who may be feeling down. It is an unique service that aims to reach out to older adults who are feeling isolated, lonely, frail or suicidal, and help them to cope with their feelings and be connected to resources that can help them.

Colorado Hoarding

The Colorado Hoarding Task Force is an organization that helps people and families who are affected by hoarding. The organization is made up of a group of agencies, businesses, and advocates that work together to provide resources, education and raise awareness about hoarding. The organization was started by a person who saw the need for more support in this area.

As people age, hoarding can become more of a problem as it can put their safety, health, and dignity at risk. Hoarding can make it difficult for older adults to access necessary home care services and medication. The task force works to help older adults with hoarding issues by providing resources and assistance to improve their overall well-being.

IntelliRide manages non-emergency medical and non-medical transportation for Health First Colorado members across the state of Colorado.

Access-a-Ride is RTD's ADA complementary paratransit service, which is a shared-ride service for those who cannot use regular fixed-route bus/light rail due to a disability. It covers the entire RTD service area.

RTD Senior Ride is an essential service for the elderly community that provides transportation for groups of ten or more. Annually, it brings thousands of seniors to a number of recreational, educational and cultural activities.

SeniorShopper is a transportation service that helps seniors who have difficulty using fixed route services or driving. It provides rides for groups of ten or more from senior housing complexes and community centers, and people of all ages may use it. This service is only available on weekdays, excluding any holidays that occur on weekdays.

The RTD G Line is an 11-mile commuter rail line that connects Wheat Ridge to Union Station in just 27 minutes. It provides faster and more frequent service to Denver, Arvada, and Wheat Ridge.

At Union Station, passengers can transfer to the C, E and W light rail lines, the A Line to Denver International Airport, the B Line to Westminster, Local and Regional buses, the Free MallRide, and Free MetroRide. Key stops are at Olde Town Arvada

Van Bibber Park offers wheelchair accessibility via a 1.5-mile concrete trail as well as urban get-aways, soft-surface trails, open meadows and an observation deck for viewing wildlife.

There are two main trailheads.

Two Ponds National Wildlife Refuge offers 72 acres of trails, grasslands, woodlands, and wetlands to explore, with beautiful views of the Rocky Mountain Front Range and opportunities to observe native wildlife and plants in an urban setting.

There are several short .3 mile loop trails along with another longer accessible 2.3 mile trail.

The 180 acre Arvada Blunn Reservoir is open to the public for fishing, hiking, and boating and supplies 25% of Arvada's drinking water; it offers good fishing.

Arvada, Colorado is proud to offer golfers two exceptional options for their game, both of which are owned and operated by the city.

The West Woods Golf Club, a 27-hole course designed by Richard Phelps, is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and is just a 20-minute drive from downtown Denver.

The Lake Arbor Golf Club, an 18-hole course, is characterized by its lush greens, narrow fairways, and stunning views of the Rocky Mountains. Both clubs host tournaments and offer programs to promote the growth of the game.

The Arvada Flour Mill Museum, constructed by Eugene Emory Benjamin and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is owned by the Arvada Historical Society and can be toured Saturdays 11-3 or by appointment (303-431-1261); donations are accepted.
