My brother-in-law has been living at The Gardens on Quail in Memory Care for about a year now. I visit him twice a week so I've come to know all of the staff. They are really attentive and the compassion they show to their residents is amazing.
We couldn’t ask for a better place for our Mom.  The staff is genuinely caring and has her best interest at heart 24/7.
My brother has been at the Gardens for awhile in the Memory Care. He likes the Gardens very much.  Everyone is so nice there, caring, and fun.  Lots of activities going on, the Courtyard is nice, and clean.  My brother thinks he is in a resort!

What are the Colorado State requirements for Assisted Living facilities?
In Colorado, assisted living facilities must follow state regulations to ensure the safety and well-being of residents. Here's what you need to know whether you are here at Gardens on Quail or any qualified facility:

Written Service Plan: Each resident in an assisted living facility must have a written care plan reviewed at least once a year. The plan should be based on a thorough assessment of the resident's health, behavioral, social and physical needs and strengths. It should also indicate if the resident can self-administer medication or requires staff assistance, any restrictions on activities, and dietary needs.

Admission Requirements: Facilities cannot admit residents who are consistently and completely incontinent, bedridden with limited potential for improvement, in need of 24-hour skilled nursing care, suffering from acute substance abuse, or have a communicable disease or need restraints. Existing bedridden residents can continue living in the facility if there is enough trained staff, licensed hospice, physician-outlined care, and meeting physical, social, and emotional needs. A resident who needs hospice care cannot be admitted, but long-term residents can receive hospice care if the facility's staff is trained and won't affect other residents' care.

Scope of Care: Assisted living facilities must provide supervision, protective oversight, and a safe and sanitary environment. The facilities must offer assistance with daily living, transportation, socializing and recreation opportunities, three meals a day and snacks, and encourage residents to help with meal planning. Therapeutic diets may be offered if ordered by a physician.

Medication Management Regulations: Staff assisting with medication administration must complete an approved course or competency test given by licensed professionals such as a nurse, physician, or pharmacist, or pass an approved competency test. A QMAP may administer medications, but not via injection. A copy of the QMAP certificate must be kept on file and a competency test must be taken every five years.

Staffing Requirements: Each facility must have a full-time administrator, one QMAP and one staff member with current adult first aid certification on-site at all times. The minimum staffing ratios for non-Medicaid facilities must be determined by the facility, with enough staff members to provide adequate care for residents' scheduled and unscheduled needs.

Staff Training Requirements: Administrators must complete 30 hours of training covering topics such as residents' rights, fire safety, nutrition, identifying and addressing challenging situations and behaviors, and personal, social and emotional needs of residents, including medication management, chronic illnesses, and end-of-life care. Staff members must receive relevant job training or experience, first aid and injury response, medication administration, and facility-specific training. Within one month of employment, they must receive training on assessment skills, health emergency response, and handling difficult situations.

Background Checks: Owners and administrators must undergo a fingerprint background check, with owners responsible for conducting criminal background checks on administrators. All staff, including permanent staff, volunteers, and contract staff must have criminal background checks.

Reporting Abuse: In Colorado, everyone employed by an assisted living facility is a mandated reporter and must report any suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation to local law enforcement.
