Hello everyone, this is Leigh, the Executive Director at Gardens on Quail, and I’m delighted to recount the wonderful experience we had creating floral arrangements from our very own garden beds.
We often underestimate the therapeutic value of engaging with nature. This activity was not only creatively stimulating but also provided a meditative space for our residents. Medical research even supports the idea that gardening can improve mental well-being, alleviate stress, and offer physical benefits through gentle exercise.
We have been tending to our garden beds with love and attention, and the time came to see the fruits—or rather, the flowers—of our labor. This morning, we harvested a vibrant array of blossoms right from our gardens to use in our floral arrangements.
Under the warm morning sun, we gathered around tables laden with vases, ribbons, and freshly cut flowers. Our residents took their time selecting the blooms that caught their eye, arranging them with both skill and emotion. Each arrangement turned into a personalized piece of art.
This was a bonding experience for everyone involved. Conversations flowed as easily as the arrangements came together, and we all took a moment to appreciate the beauty around us—both in the flowers and in the community we’ve built here.
It’s fulfilling to know that the flowers used for our arrangements came from sustainable sources right in our own backyard, affirming our commitment to environmentally responsible practices.
We hope to make floral arrangement sessions a recurring event, so watch this space for more.
Thank you all for making this morning so special.
Best,
Mariah
